Philippa woke me this morning to tell me about a dream. What did I think it meant? This is what she told me:

“A woman has disappeared and we are looking for her.  A man tells me I must look in the attic. I look up and see a trap door with a ladder and go up through to the place where she might be. I can’t believe I won’t find her. She must be somewhere. I look everywhere but she is nowhere to be found …”

This is the point I say you’re dreaming about rigpa!

“ … I decide to draw a picture of her and realise I want confirmation of my picture in which she is neither black nor white. I realise my picture won’t do it so I rub it out and as I do so I realise that this is her.”

Sometimes our wisdom visits us in dreams. The message is clear: when we look for our buddha-nature, intrinsic awareness as a thing we can get hold of and describe it seems there is simply nothing there but as soon as we let go of it being one thing or another, when we can just let go of our desire to ‘know’ or ‘have’ it - there it is.

Aren’t paradoxes annoying!

NW. 24 April 2025  With thanks to P. for allowing us to share her dream.
